PEMA Affiliation
PEMA is the global voice of the port equipment manufacturing industry.
PEMA was established in late 2004 by a group of leading equipment manufacturers serving the global port and terminal markets. The goal was to create a neutral platform that could publicly represent the industry as a whole, as well as fostering knowledge and relations within the global port equipment community.

A change to the constitution in 2008 also opened the door to membership from technology providers and consulting companies, since which time the membership has grown steadily.
​
Today, PEMA’s members represent a broad cross-section of companies active in the design and supply of equipment, systems and technology to support the growing demands of modern port and terminal operations.

Some of the ways we do this is by publishing white papers, and through our ‘PEMA Award for Innovation and
Disruptive Technology.’
Education
We strive to inform, educate and
promote best practice in the industry.
Nurturing new talent is important to ensure future growth of our industry. One of the ways we do this, is through our annual student competition: The Ottonel Popesco Student Challenge by PEMA.
